Jones-Light Furniture & Appliance, Inc was established in 1987 when 2 friends decided to team together with furniture, appliance, electronics and appliance repair. Alston Jones and George Light worked as a team with Alston heading the in-store sales team and George heading the repair team. This spanned 23 years!
Angelia Stewart, George's daughter joined the team in 1991 bringing a ladies touch to this team of men! This came with a complete remodel of the inside of the store starting in 2000 and launched a whole new approach for the store. We launched a Broyhill gallery, a Serta gallery, and an Ashley gallery, GE, Whirlpool, Maytag Appliance gallery.
The small 30 thousand square foot store was remodelled to take in parts of the warehouse and parts of the old storage facility, expanding the showroom floor to 70k square feet.
In 2010 Alston decided it was time to enjoy the fruits of his labor and retired, Angelia became co-owner with her dad. In the 2 years after retirement, Alston travelled and accomplished many things on his bucket list. One was the expansion of an Orphanage in Mexico, he had a true servants heart!
In 2017 George was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away in February of 2018. His knowledge, smile and laughter was contagious and is missed daily by everyone who walks through the doors. He never met a stranger and if he came to your house on a service call he would make himself at home, pull up a chair and share a cup of coffee with you and enjoy any stories you cared to share with him. He loved meeting people and hearing their stories and best of all knowing he helped someone.
Angelia's son Zachary Stewart joined the team when he was 15 delivering and assembling furniture, he now has his degree and is managing the technical issues of the company.
Angelia's daughter Mary Hannah joined the team 3 years ago and takes care of all warranty issues, works with customers to find just the right special order items and helps manage all things social media.
